Members of the Democratic Party of Evanston Sunday voted to endorse challenger Ed Smith in the race for Cook County Recorder of Deeds over incumbent Eugene “Gene” Moore.

In other races, the local political activists cast 99 percent of their votes for Cook County Commissioner Larry Suffredin of Evanston in the seven-way race for Cook County State’s Attorney.

Jan Schakowsky was endorsed unanimously in her run for reelection to the U.S. House.

Jay Paul Derantany was endorsed in his race against Joseph Berrios for 2nd District Cook County Board of Review.

And the party members failed to endorse anyone in a competition among 11 candidates for three seats on the board of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District.
