Update 6 p.m.: Evanston police say a man was shot in the neck about 3 p.m. today in the 1900 block of Hartrey Avenue. Fire Department paramedics transported the victim to Evanston Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Reportedly two men wearing masks drove up in a silver car, got out and shot the victim and then got back into the car and fled westbound from the scene in what witnesses said may have been a Kia with temporary tags.

Polce Sgt. Ken Carter says Evanston police detectives and officers from the North Regional Major Crimes Task Force are investigating today’s shooting.

Carter says no one is in custody and the identity of the victim can’t yet be released.

He says detectives are still working leads regarding the homicides that occurred in the 300 block of Howard Street on Thursday and in the 2200 block of Emerson Street on Saturday.

Update 5:50 a.m. 7/27/20: Police have identified the victim in Sunday’s shooting on Hartrey as 29-year-old Andrew Williams of Evanston and the victim in Saturday’s shooting as 21-year-old Deashawn Turner, who lived in the 2200 block of Emerson.

Update 11:10 a.m. 7/27/20: Police now say they believe the shooting of Williams on Sunday may have been in retaliation for the shooting of Turner on Saturday.
