An Evanston man who worked at the Obama campaign headquarters in Chicago collapsed at work and died Friday.

The Tribune and Sun-Times identified the victim as Alexander Okrent, 29, of the 300 block of Dewey Avenue.

Okrent reportedly was taken by Chicago paramedics from the headquarters at the Prudential Building to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

He had worked for the campaign’s paid media department, which handled advertising for the president’s re-election bid.

Obama said on his campaign Twitter account, “A beloved member of our campaign family, Alex Okrent, passed away today. Our prayers are with his loved ones. We will miss you, Alex.”
