Update 6:15 p.m.: Police say a 28-year-old Evanston man was shot in the hip after he got into an argument with two other men in a parking lot in the 1600 block of Emerson Street about 3:30 this afternoon.

Police Cmdr. Ryan Glew says the man, who was a passenger in a car that pulled into the lot. After exchanging words with two men in the lot, he got out of the car and got into a physical confrontation with the other men — one of whom pulled out a gun and fired three or four shots.

Glew says the victim then got back into the passenger side of the car and was driven to Evanston Hospital where he’s being treated for the gunshot wound and is expected to recover from his injury.

The two suspects in the shooting fled the scene on foot.

Glew say police have recovered shell casings from the scene and are asking anyone with information about the incident to call the police detective bureau at 847-866-5040 or Text-A-Tip to CRIMES (274637) and then start your message with EPDTIP.
