Nine years ago today Evanston Now quietly arrived on the local news scene. And, thanks to you, readers, it’s been growing ever since.
We now reach more than 40,000 unique visitors in a typical month and collectively they read well over 200,000 pages of news each month.
As best we can tell from available data, that makes Evanston Now by far the most-read news source focused on our community.
The past nine years have been challenging ones in the news business as media companies struggled to deal with the liberating but disruptive forces unleashed by the internet.
New competitors have emerged, and some have already folded or greatly diminished. Traditional stalwarts have seen their resources shrink and consolidation has taken place.
We’ve perservered so far as a locally-owned, independent news source. And with your help we hope to continue to grow for a long time to come.
In addition to our readers, a special thanks to our advertisers — and to the readers who’ve become voluntary subscribers to the site. Their financial support is what makes it possible for Evanston Now to keep bringing you the news.
Happy Anniversary
Happy Anniversary Bill.
Good site to keep up on some of the local news and events
10th Anniversary Goal
Maybe, for EvanstonNow’s 10th anniversary we could introduce “like” & “dislike” buttons.
Happy ninth anniversary, EvanstonNow!
Better than all the rest!
Evanston Now is a great asset for the city. I cannot imagine the void that would be felt if you were not here. Any chance you could hire some interns from Northwestern Univ. school of Journalism to do some expanded reporting on politics and education in our city?
And thank you for being here!
Thank YOU!
Bill,
Congratulations and thank you for providing a great venue for local news and events!
It is especially nice to be able to keep abreast of the news while away!
Here’s to another +9… Yours sincerely, Brian G. Becharas
