Police have charged an Evanston man with unlawful use of a weapon after a 911 caller told them there was a man with a gun in the parking lot of the 7-Eleven at 847 Dodge Ave.

Cmdr. Jay Parrott says police arriving on the scene about 12:45 a.m. Wednesday found a subject matching the description provided by the caller.

After stopping him for questionning, police say they found a loaded .28 caliber handgun in his possession.

Police have now charged the man, Sean D. Rattray, 27, of the 800 block of Dodge Avenue with felony unlawful use of a weapon. He’s scheduled to appear in Skokie district court at 9 a.m. July 13.
