The Evanston Police Department will hold an Information Session for the EPD Explorer program on Wednesday, Nov. 28, at 6 p.m., at 909 Lake St.

The department is recruiting for the Explorer Post 1863 program. The meeting will provide potential explorers and their families with program details and give them a chance to meet current Explorers.

The Explorer program is offered through collaboration with the Boy Scouts of America Exploring program.

The Evanston Police Explorers offers Evanston youth interested in law enforcement an opportunity to learn directly from officers, and gives youth an advantage in the Law Enforcement field.

The program includes a classroom curriculum coupled with hands on activities. Explorers meet twice per month on Wednesday evenings. The program is free, however there is a $40 cost for insurance through the Boy Scouts of America.

The information session is open to Evanston youth grades 9-12. Parents or guardians are strongly encouraged to attend and their permission is required for youths to participant in the program.

For more information and/or to RSVP please email Officer Enjoli Daley at edaley@cityofevanston.org. Space is limited.
