A few days of good news on the COVID-19 front in Evanston, with hardly any cases and extremely few deaths ended today with a report from the city of seven new cases and five additional deaths.

That raises the city’s reported case count to 736 and the death toll to 54.

Chicago reported 353 new cases today and 11 additional deaths for a case count of 47,904 and a death toll of 2,251.

Across Illinois there were 975 more cases adn 69 additional deaths bringing the totals to 126,890 cases and 5,864 deaths.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported test results for 105 Evanston residents today and said six of them tested positive for a positive rate of 5.7% Four of he six positive cases were reported in the south Evanston 60202 ZIP Code.

Statewide 21,155 tests were conducted with a positive rate of 4.6% for the day and a seven-day average positive rate of 5.5%
