Evanston looks good in a report on school district consolidation in the Chicago Tribune.
The Trib says Illinois has one of the most fragmented school administration structures in the nation.
It says Evanston’s District 65 spends $2.3 million to administer its 15 schools — a total of 2.6 percent of all district spending.
By comparison the five elementary school districts in neighboring Skokie spend $4 million, 5 percent of all school spending, on administration. And the Evanston schools serve nearly 20 percent more students.
