Fifteen would-be operators of medical marijuana dispensaries have completed applications with the state to operate in the area that includes Evanston and Niles Township.

That’s the second highest applicant pool for a single dispensary license to be issued in any area of the state — topped only by the 23 applications for all of DuPage County.

By comparison, only one applicant is seeking to open a dispensary in Rogers Park, two in the area including New Trier and Northfield townships and six in the area that includs Maine and Wheeling townships.

Evanston aldermen have approved plans to attempt to negotiate a lease with whatever group wins the state dispensary license for this area to set up shop in now-vacant retail space on the ground level of the city’s Maple Avenue parking garage.

  1. Any names?

Is a list of those applicants available? Elsewhere, there are lists available for those who want to be licensed to grow.
