Chicago police say an Evanston woman was killed Monday night in a shooting in the Englewood neighborhood on Chicago’s south side.

WLS TV reports the victim, identified as 20-year-old Kaylyn Pryor, was struck in the right armpit about 6:20 p.m. in the 7300 block of South May Street. She was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where she died a short time later.

A 15-year-old boy, shot in the same incident, was struck in the right leg but is reported hospitalized in good condition.

Various news reports earlier this year identified a 20-year-old Kaylyn Pryor of Evanston as a participant in and winner of a “Make Me a Model” beauty competition.

Update 10 a.m.: Mario Tricoci, owner of the Old Orchard beauty salon that sponsored the beauty competition, this morning confirmed that the homicide victim, who lived in the 400 block of Callan Avenue, was the woman who had won the contest.
