Many Evanstonians may not be aware that the City of Evanston has signed on to the US Mayors Conference ratifying the Kyoto Protocol (in the absence of National Leadership in this area). The goal is to reduce our community’s collective carbon footprint to 5 percent below their 1990 levels.

The roll-out event is on Sunday, May 4th 1:45 PM – 5 PM at the new LEED certified Jewish Reconstructionist Congregation at 303 Dodge Ave (opposite the Levy Senior Center).

If you cannot attend the presentation and break-out sessions and if you are interested in reducing your carbon contribution to Mother Earth… Please have a look at 50 simple things you can do to reduce your carbon footprint (attached) and check for more information about the plan on the city website.

Happy Earth Month!
