Both of Evanston’s hospitals are listed among the best in the Chicago region in a newly released ranking from U.S. News.

The publication ranks NorthShore Evanston Hospital as seventh among the 119 hospitals in the region — with nationally ranked specialties in gastroenterology and gynecology and high-performing specialties in cancer; diabetes and endocrinology; ear, nose and throat; geriatrics; nephrology; neurology and neurosurgery; orthopedics; pulmonology and urology.

In a statement, Mark Neaman, president and chief executive officer of NorthShore, said the recognition “is a testament not only to the physician expertise at NorthShore but also the comprehensive system of caring that is focused on always providing our patients with exceptional experiences.”

U.S. News ranked Presence St. Francis Hospital 25th in the region — with high-performing specialties in geriatrics, nephrology and urology.

In a news release, Jeff Murphy, chief executive officer of Presence Saint Francis Hospital, said, “to be named one of the best hospitals in the Chicago area once again this year is an outstanding achievement.” He said it indicates that St. Francis is “the premier community hospital on Chicago’s north shore.”
