“Evanston Rocks” no more. The music and dining venue also known as Rock ‘N Ravioli today has a sign on the door saying it’s closed for renovations.
But its Open Table reservation service page says it’s permanently closed. And the venue’s website lists no upcoming events.
Ron Onesti, of Onesti Entertainment, took over the former 27 Live music venue in 2017 and opened the renovated space late that year.
But Onesti, who’d found success with his Arcada Theatre in St. Charles and other ventures, reportedly had difficulty finding a successful formula here in Evanston.
And with Northlight Theatre announcing plans last spring to buy the Church Street building from its New York owners and demolish it to build a new home for the theater, Evanston Rocks days were probably already numbered.

evanston rocks was a great venue and i hope will be again. Ron Onesti, the owner gave up on this one. it’s sad.i hope he really thinks about what he has done not only to the people of evanston but to himself and the spirit he tries to instill in everyone he meets. hopefully sooner rather than later evanston rocks will re-open and the spirit that Ron Onesti spreads will once again be spread throughout evanston and the whole Onesti Entertainment Corparation. thank you, Brent Bucholtz
