Panel to discuss rise in anti-Semitism

Beth Emet The Free Synagogue, 1224 Dempster St, in Evanston, will host a panel discussion on Tuesday, March 3, at 7 p.m. to try to understand the rise of anti-Semitic threats and attacks across the country.

A panel including Sara Yael Hirshhorn, visiting assistant professor in Israel Studies at Northwestern University; David Shyovitz, associate professor of history at Northwestern, and Lara Trubowitz, associate director of the Anti-Defamation League's National College and University Programs and Education Director for ADL’s Midwest region, will examine the historical perspective, dynamics, and threats of the current levels of anti-Semitism.

They will explore how anti-Semitism comes both from elements of the political Right including domestic terrorism, and from elements of the political Left against Jews who show any support for Israel, including exclusion of Jews from progressive activities and personal attacks on Jewish college students, as well as the responses of Jewish organizations and communities.

There is no fee for this program, but registration is encouraged to [email protected]
