Inspirational Storytelling with Story Jam on Jan. 21

By on

Greet the new year with an inspired experience celebrating the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. on Monday, Jan. 21 at 7:30 p.m. at SPACE in Evanston!

Story Jam is the only storytelling show featuring companion original songs. The 10-piece band is led by singer/songwriter Stephanie Rogers and many of the band members have toured with renowned artists, such as: Aretha Franklin, Melissa Etheridge, Boz Scaggs, and Peter Himmelman.

Story Jam is a live lit music experience featuring storytellers who are Moth Slam winners, as well as recognized tellers from around Chicagoland and beyond.

The January 21st show features storytellers and podcasters, including: Shannon Cason (host of NPR’s “Homemade Stories” and “The Trouble”); Mama Edie Armstrong, who marched beside Dr. King; multiple award-winner Archy Jamjun; powerhouse Lynne Jordan; solo show artist RC Riley; and Nestor Gomez (who has won more Moth Slams and Grand Slams than anyone alive).

Several special musical guests will also be performing during the evening.

Each Story Jam is unique as new songs and combinations are created for each show. In celebrating diversity and individuality, Story Jam strives to meld the colorful worlds of live music and live lit.

Chicago performer/musician/singer-songwriter, Stephanie Rogers, serves as producer and host. Rogers started Story Jam in 2015, and her indie label, Hipchick Records, will release a recording of Story Jam songs in 2019.

General admission tickets are $18 and reserved table seating starts at $28.
