Robbery in Howard parking lot

A robbery occurred last night in a business parking lot in the 2400 block of Howard Street. This among the stories in today’s daily crime bulletin from Evanston Police.

Robbery

2400 Howard

A robber demanded the keys to his victim’s red 2020 Chevrolet in the Jewel-Osco parking lot in the 2400 block of Howard Street at 8:50 p.m. yesterday. The 70-year-old victim returned to the Jewel while the Black male suspect fled in a black four-door sedan.

Burglary

600 Custer

A burglar cut a window screen in an attempt to enter an apartment in the 600 block of Custer Avenue at about 10:43 a.m. Friday.

2300 Pioneer

Cash and glasses were taken from an unlocked 2016 Honda in the 2300 block of Pioneer Road between June 14 and 11:22 a.m. Friday.

Criminal Damage

2300 Foster

Someone slashed the tires of a 1998 Ford in the 2300 block of  Foster Street between 3 a.m. and 5 a.m. Friday.

Green Bay at Asbury

A report of a man with a gun at Green Bay Road and Asbury Avenue was received at 11:25 p.m. Friday. Police checked the area but found no man with a gun.

1621 Simpson

Sabrina V. Hill, 65, of 1621 Simpson Street, was arrested at that address at 5:30 a.m. Saturday and charged with possessing a firearm without a firearm owners identification card. She is due in court on Aug. 25 at 9 a.m.

Shots Heard

1400 Grey

Gunshots were reported in the 1400 block of Grey Avenue at 12:53 a.m. today. Police checked the area but found nothing.

Emerson and Foster

Gunshots were reported near Emerson and Foster streets at 9:21 p.m. yesterday. Police checked the area but found nothing.

300 Sherman

Gunshots were reported in the 300 block of Sherman Avenue at 10:10 a.m. Friday. Police checked the area but found nothing.

Theft

2400 Oakton

Shoplifting occurred at a gas station in the 2400 block of Oakton Street at about 1 a.m. yesterday.

1600 Chicago

Grocery items were stolen from the Whole Foods store in the 1600 block of Chicago Avenue at 12:25 p.m. Saturday and again at 12:20 p.m. yesterday.

2600 Sheridan

A bicycle secured to a bike rack in the 2600 block of  Sheridan Road was stolen at about 9:30 p.m. Friday.

900 Noyes

Food items were stolen from a restaurant in the 900 block of Noyes Street at 9:46 a.m. Saturday.

1612 Benson

Kenneth Ross, 39, of 915 Dobson St., was arrested at 1612 Benson Ave. at 4:40 p.m. Friday and charged with theft. He is due in court on July 9 at 1:30 p.m.

Traffic

900 Oakton

Anne Marie Bassett, 54, of 4141 N. Long Ave., Chicago, was arrested at 900 Oakton St. at 2:11 p.m.Thursday and charged with a traffic violation.  She is due in court on Aug. 28 at 9 a.m.

2211 Oakton

James Dennis DeHaven, 39, of 6325 N. Sheridan Road, Chicago, was arrested at 2211 Oakton St. at 5:21 p.m. Friday and charged with driving under the influence. He is due in court on July 16 at 10:30 a.m.

2400 Emerson

Alan Quiroz, 20, of 1639 W. Lunt Ave., Chicago, was arrested at 2400 Emerson St. at 1:15 p.m. Tuesday and charged with a traffic violation. He is due in court on July 20 at 1:30 p.m.

1717 Ashland

Jake A.Vargas, 31, of 3612 N.Sacramento Ave., Chicago, was arrested at 1717 Ashland Ave. at 9:17 p.m. Saturday and charged with a traffic violation. He is due in court on Aug. 20 at 10:30 a.m.

845 Dodge

Juan Antonio Vilchiz, 19, of 2047 W. Touhy Ave., Chicago, was arrested at 845 Dodge Ave. at 7:40 a.m. Thursday and charged with a traffic violation. He is due in court on Aug. 27 at 10:30 a.m.
