Evanston police say a fingerprint left on a holdup note has led to charges against a suspect in the armed robbery last Sept. 12 of the Dominick’s Food Store at 2748 Green Bay Road.

Deputy Chief Joseph Bellino said the state crime lab matched the fingerprint to prints on file for David Leroy Lee, 41, of 6024 S. Eberhart in Chicago, who was already in the Cook County Jail awaiting trial for holdups at Dominick’s stores in Chicago and Lincolnwood.

Chief Bellino said the store clerk, who was forced to turn over $2,000 in cash to the robber, identified the suspect in a lineup at the Evanston Police Department.

Mr. Lee is back in the county jail and is scheduled for a hearing Feb. 22 at Skokie District Court.
