Fire hits apartment on Clyde

Update 6:55 p.m.: Evanston firefighters responded to what turned out to be a mattress fire in an apartment building at 124 Clyde Ave., just north of Howard Street.

The first reports of the fire came in abou 6:35 p.m. As of 6:55 p.m. police were still blocking westbound traffic on Howard Street at Chicago Avenue.

No reports so far of any injuries from the incident. But some residents of the building will be temporarily displaced from their apartments.
