Renovations to Evanston’s Fire Station 4, located at 1817 Washington St., will keep the station closed for about six weeks, beginning tomorrow.

During the rehabilitation period, Fire Engine 24, normally housed at Fire Station 4, will be relocated to Fire Station 2, located 11 blocks east at 702 Madison St.

In making the announcement, the city said that signs will be posted to notify residents of the work in progress, and an emergency 911 phone will be installed at 1817 Washington with a direct line to the city’s dispatch center.
