Evanston fire crews are on the scene of a house fire at 1808 Hovland Court that broke out about 11:30 this morning.

Firefighters were able to bring the blaze, which appears to have started in the front of the first floor of the one-and-a-half story concrete-block home, under control quickly.

A firefighter cools off after emerging from the burning building.

There were no immediate reports of injuries, but six fire investigators from neighboring deparments have been called in to try to determine the cause of the blaze.

Update 3:05 p.m.: Evanston Police Cmdr. Ryan Glew says the building had been abandoned and should have been unoccupied at the time the fire broke out.
