The Evanston Firefighters Association Local 742 has endorsed 6th Ward Alderman Mark Tendam in the race for mayor of Evanston.

In a news release, Tim Gobat of the firefighters union says its political action committee spent three weeks interviewing candidates for aldermen and mayor and found “many extremely qualified candidates” for the positions.

In aldermanic races the firefighters endorsed Judy Fiske in the 1st Ward, Melissa Wynne in the 3rd Ward, Robin Rue in the 5th Ward, Virginia Mann in the 6th Ward, Ann Rainey in the 8th Ward and Cicely Fleming in the 9th Ward.

They also endorsed Rodney Greene for re-election as city clerk.

  1. Firefighter’s endorsements

Nice to see the engagement of the Firefighters in Evanston politics.

Would be good to see more groups engaged in the process.

I’d like to know the criteria the Firefighters used in evaluating all the candidates.

Can someone from the fire department post the criteria so the entire Evanston community can become better informed?

Also, how many firemen are currently in the department and how many firemen live in Evanston and pay Evanston taxes. Please post.

    Thank you.
