Teams of Evanston firefighters spent much of last week practicing techniques for getting people out of wrecked cars.

The training, part of a state certification class, was held at the city’s Recycling Center at 2222 Oakton St.

Department training officer, Capt. Glen Vanek, led the sessions, which each day featured eight wrecked cars provided by the nearby North Shore Towing Service.
