Evanston firefighters faced an unusual challenge this afternoon — rescuing a tiny kitten that had somehow managed to crawl into a concrete block wall at the city’s animal shelter.

The firefighters had to carefully knock some holes in the concrete blocks to be able to get to the kitten and pull it out of the wall.

Apparently the cat survived its adventure with no adverse effects.
