Evanston’s traditional Fourth of July lakefront fireworks display lit up the sky over downtown Wednesday night.

Crowds of people streamed through a still steamy downtown on their way to the lakefront for the noisy show, and if you picked your spot on the ground just right, you could catch the action right from downtown.

Here’s a slide show of images captured from two vantage points — near the Evanston Public Library, and through the trees on Church Street a bit east of Chicago Avenue.
