Evanstonians wrapped up their Independence Day festivities Tuesday night with a massive fireworks display on the city’s lakefront.

In addition to crowds along the shoreline, boaters offshore waited for the 9:30 start of the pyrotechnic display.

  1. Awesome!—-if there’s ever been a better Evanston fireworks show than last night, I don’t remember it—-the grand finale was mind blowing…Great all around 4th including nice parade—-Big kudos to everyone with Evanston 4th of July association!

  2. I think for equity’s sake, the Fireworks need to be held in the Fifth Ward. It is inequitable that they are always held in the First Ward.

  4. I am 62. I’ve probably seen 52 Evanston Fireworks shows. Last night’s was the best fireworks display I’ve ever seen. Anywhere! Period. Full stop. The Grand Finale gave me chills. Maybe you had twice the amount since they were canceled last year, I don’t know. But great job! I’d love to see the likes of that again from time to time. Way to go 4th of July Association!
