Northwestern University early this evening announced that an employee in the Kellog School of Management’s Global Hub building in Evanston has tested positive for the COVID-19 coronavirus — the first confirmed case of the disease at Northwestern.
The school says the staff member is self-isolating off campus and that NU medical teams are reaching out to students, faculty and staff who may have had direct contact with the employee. Those persons are being asked to self-isolate.
Earlier today the school said it is halting all group gatherings of 50 people or more that occur in small spaces that do not allow for appropriate social distancing.
The school also is suspending access to its recreational facilities starting this evening.
It’s also encouraging instructors who can deliver final exams remotely or as take-home tests to do so and says students are not required to attend in-person exams.
