pox-fire-grill-off-2016

The Evanston Police & Fire Foundation will hold its fifth annual Police vs. Fire Grill Off in the Valli Produce parking lot at Dempster Street and Dodge Avenue Saturday from noon to 2 p.m.

Valli Produce is also donating all of the ingredients for this event, including chips and drinks.

Two teams of chefs will create what each team claims are the tastiest burgers in town. And you can try one of each along with chips and a drink for a $10 donation.

Last year, over 400 burgers were served and over $1,500 was raised to support the Evanston Police & Fire Foundation.

Everyone votes for their favorite burger to determine which group of first responders are the best cooks!

The Evanston Police & Fire Foundation, in concert with the departments, identifies needed programs, equipment, and technology. EPFF works to raise funds within the community and to create partnerships with local business, residents, and community members.

The EPFF supports programs like the Evanston Citizens’ Fire Academy, Citizens’ Police Academy, Fire Explorers and the new Police Explorers. EPFF also purchases specialized equipment the city’s budget cannot accommodate. For example, a new radio system for use in high-rise buildings which would allow first responders to communicate more effectively, has just been approved by the grant committee.
