Evanston police have arrested five juveniles in connection with the armed robbery of two teens on Emerson Street Wednesday.

Police Cmdr. Jay Parrott says officers were called about 12:25 p.m. to the robbery scene at Emerson Street and Brown Avenue where the victims, ages 17 and 18, said the five stole money and a cell phone from them and that one of the robbers was carrying a silver-colored handgun.

The victims told police they saw the robbers flee on foot to a house in the 1900 block of Emerson

When police went to the house, Parrott says, they found five youths who the victims later identified as the ones who had robbed them.

He says police detectives were able to recover a cell phone and currency identified as belonging to the victims from the house where the youths were taken into custody, but they were unable to locate the gun said to have been used in the incident.

The five juveniles, ranging from 13 to 15 years in age, have each been charged with one count of aggravated robbery. Two have been remanded to the Cook County Juvenile Detention Center. The other three, Parrott says, were given non-secured custody status.
