Evanston health officials reported five new COVID-19 cases among city residents today. Statewide there were 2,441 new cases.
The Illinois Department of Public Health reported results of 65,217 tests, down somewhat from yesterday’s 69,793.
The statewide positive rate in Illinois today is 3.7%, compared to a seven-day average for the state of 3.6%.
The IDPH reported tests of 480 Evanston residents today, down from 587 Friday, and it found seven positive cases for a positive rate of 1.5% compared to a seven-day average rate for the city of 1.9%. The state now says Evanston has had a total of 1,119 cases.
By the city’s count, Evanston has a total of 1,125 COVID-19 cases. The city’s death toll from the disease remained unchanged today at 73.
Chicago reported 407 new cases today for a total of 79,114. Its coronavirus death toll increased by four to 2,948.
Suburban Cook County reported 462 more cases today for a total of 63,970 and five more deaths for a total of 2,255.
Those who died in Cook County today ranged in age from a woman in her 50s to a man in his 90s.
The state now has 286,326 COVID-19 cases, and it reported 25 more deaths today for a total of 8,588.
As of last night, 1,597 people in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 355 patients were in the ICU and 141 of those were on ventilators.
