Evanston health officials reported five new COVID-19 cases today, down from six yesterday. The city’s COVID-19 death toll remained unchanged for a 11th day at 110.
Statewide there were 1,585 new cases today, compared to 1,922 yesterday, for a new total of 1,174,409.
The Illinois Department of Public Health today reported that 13,433 people were vaccinated yesterday, compared to 77,813 the day before. The seven-day average of daily vaccinations decreased to 52,658.
A total of 2,151,952 vaccine doses had been administered as of yesterday, about 80% of the total 2,702,175 doses distributed to the state by the federal government. The IDPH says 4.29% of the state’s population is now fully vaccinated.
Illinois reported 35 COVID-19 deaths today, compared to 42 yesterday, for a new total of 20,269.
The state reported 75,269 COVID-19 tests today, compared to 73,212 yesterday.
The IDPH reported tests of 406 Evanston residents today, compared to 549 yesterday. The IDPH found six positive cases here for a daily positive rate of 1.5%.
The state now says Evanston has had a total of 3,979 cases. The city’s case count is 3,833.
Chicago reported 272 new COVID-19 cases today for a total of 242,386 and four more deaths for a total of 4,826.
Suburban Cook County reported 284 new cases today for a total of 227,549 and five more deaths for a total of 4,428.
The IDPH reported that the deaths in Cook County included a woman and a man in their 60s, a woman in her 70s, a woman and three men in their 80s and two women and a man in their 90s.
As of last night, 1,468 people in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 356 patients were in the ICU and 170 of those were on ventilators.
