Evanston’s Fleetwood-Jourdain Theatre has been nominated for four awards from the Chicago-based The Black Theater Alliance for its production this summer of “Why Not Me? A Sammy Davis Jr. Story.”
The theater’s artistic director, Tim Rhoze is in the running for best director and best writer awards, Sean Blake, who plays Sammy Davis Jr. in the production is in the running for the best leading actor award and the theatre itself is up for an outstanding stage production award.
Winners are to be announced at a ceremony in Chicag on Oct. 19.
