Alderman Cicely Fleming, 9th Ward, and former District 65 School Board President Mary Rita Luecke have joined the staff of County Commissioner Larry Suffredin of Evanston.

Suffredin announced the appointments Monday at the start of the new term for county board members elected last month.

Mary Rita Luecke.

Suffredin says Luecke, a civil rights attorney and advocate for the disabled, will work with Brian Miller of Suffredin’s staff on developing public policy initiatives and drafting and analyzing legislation. The Skokie resident finished third in the five-way March primary for the 17th District State House seat won by Jennifer Gong-Gershowitz.

He says Fleming, who holds a master’s degree in public administration from DePaul University, will work with Michelle Jordan on community outreach, including taxpayer assistance and the health care and forest preserve task forces.

  1. Why doesn’t he do his “community outreach” and “analysis”?

He’s just a county commissioner.  Why does he need a big staff?  Are they replacing outgoing staffers or is he increasing the size of his staff.  What is this costing the taxpayers?
