Unseasonably warm moist air has led the National Weather Service to issue a flood watch for Evanston from 6 p.m. tonight through late Tuesday night.
Several rounds of thunderstorms are expected between today and Wednesday with rainfall totals between 1.5 and 4 inches likely.
Since the ground remains frozen, much of the rain will run off rapidly and melting snow will add to the runoff.
The weather service says there’s also a chance of dense fog over portions of the area that may make for hazardous driving conditions.
