Spotted in downtown Evanston yesterday — folks talking about plans for new signage on the building at 622 Davis St. that used to house Cheesie’s Pub and Grub.

The owners of Newport Coffee House in Bannockburn are planning to take over the Davis Street location.

Shuttered — at least for now — Falcon Eddy’s at 825 Church St. — which put up the kraft paper on the windows last week. The restaurant, which opened last year, had cut back its hours to just three days a week recently.

Coming back to life — Furious Spoon at 1700 Maple Ave. — which put up “temporarily closed” signs last August, just 12 months after opening.

Until very recently there were no signs of activity at the Spoon site, but the signs now promise a re-opening this month.

And the city wants you to know that, despite the construction barriers that went up in the 1600 block of Sherman Avenue Monday, the restaurants and other businesses on the block are still open for business.
