With the weather finally warming up, restaurants around downtown were putting out their sidewalk cafe tables this week — even if it’s still a little chilly for diners to actually use them. And there will be more sidewalk tables soon.

The City Council Monday night approved sidewalk cafe applications from Cold Stone Creamery at 1611 Sherman Ave. and from Amanecer Taco Shop at 512 Main St.

The aldermen also approved a liquor license and a special use permit for Falcon Eddy’s Barbeque at 825 Church St and a liquor license for Board and Brush at 802 Dempster St.

Liquor license requests for the Target at 2209 Howard St. and for Binny’s Beverage Depot at 1111 Chicago Ave. were introduced, as were ordinances that would eliminate a 500 foot separation requirement for grocery stores selling packaged liquor.
