City-approved food trucks have been invited to operate at Evanston’s two largest parks to serve participants and family members attending youth athletic programs.

Eleven businesses have indicated an interest in participating in this pilot program, which begins on Saturday.

Food trucks are allowed to operate Saturdays and Sundays from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and weekdays from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The park sites are James Park, Dodge Avenue at Oakton Street and Lovelace Park, Gross Point Road at Thayer Street.

City officials say they expect the number of trucks at each site to vary based on weather, game schedules and market forces.
