Evanston’s Technology Innovation Center is included on a list of 10 business incubators that Forbes magazine says are “changing the world.”
Forbes assembled the list of 10 from among about 300 incubators operating around the country.
Others on the list include incubators in Mountain View, Palo Alto and San Jose, Calif.; Atlanta, Ga.; Champaign, Ill.; Worcester, Mass.; Houston, Texas; Madison, Wis., and Auckland, New Zealand.
The Forbes story quotes a Commerce Department study that says government investment in technology incubators creates nine times as many jobs as a similar amount of money invested in infrastructure projects — though the impact of the stimulus spending takes longer to be fully realized.
