Services are scheduled for Thursday, March 10, for former Evanston Township High School head football coach Tom Powers.

Powers, 86, died Friday at Evanston Hospital.

Powers, who lived in Evanston, coached the Wildkits from 1980 to 1987, leading the team to 50 wins and three playoffs.

He had previously coached and taught at Notre Dame High School in Niles, St. George High School in Evanston and Loyola Academy in Wilmette.

Powers is surviced by his wife of 60 years, Rosemary, four sons, two daughters and six grandchildren.

Visitation will start at 9:30 a.m.Thursday with a funeral mass at 11:30 a.m., both at St. Mary Church, 1012 Lake St. in Evanston. A celebration of his life will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Hackney’s, 1514 E. Lake Ave. in Glenview.
