Evanston police now say four people were struck by bullets fired shortly after 10 p.m. Tuesday as they stood outside near the intersection of Foster Street and Jackson Avenue.
Police say a number of assailants emerged from the open field north of that location — fired several shots at the group — and then retreated back the way they’d come.
Police Cmdr. Joseph Dugan says the victims included:
- A 19-year-old Evanston woman struck in the ankle who walked into the Evanston Hospital emergency room.
- A 24-year-old Evanston man shot in the head.
- A 17-year-old Evanston girl who was shot twice in the arm and once in the leg.
- A 32-year-old Skokie man shot in the hand who drove to the Buffalo Joe’s restaurant at 812 Clark St. to report he’d been shot.
All four victims are now at Evanston Hospital with wounds that are considered non-life threatening.
Detectives are investigating the incident and police aren’t releasing a description of the suspects at this time.
