Evanston health officials reported four new COVID-19 cases among city residents today. Statewide there were 2,166 new cases.
The statewide positive rate in Illinois today is 3.3%, compared to a seven-day average for the state of 3.6%.
The Illinois Department of Public Health reported results of 65,615 tests today, up from Wednesday’s 58,546.
The IDPH reported tests of 561 Evanston residents today, up from 194 Wednesday. It found two positive cases here for a positive rate today of 0.4% compared to a seven-day average rate for the city of 1.2%. The seven-day rate is down from 1.9% a week ago.
The state now says Evanston has had a total of 1,138 cases.
By the city’s count, Evanston has a total of 1,150 COVID-19 cases. The city’s death toll from the disease remained unchanged today at 73.
Chicago reported 415 new cases today for a total of 80,680. Its coronavirus death toll increased by two to 2,962.
Suburban Cook County reported 275 more cases today for a total of 65,472 and two more deaths for a total of 2,267.
Those who died in Cook County today ranged in age from a woman in her 40s to a woman more than 100 years old.
The state now has 295,440 COVID-19 cases, and it reported 24 more deaths today for a total of 8,696.
As of last night, 1,635 people in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 359 patients were in the ICU and 149 of those were on ventilators.
