Evanston health officials reported four new COVID-19 cases today among city residents, and statewide 1,953 more cases were reported today.
It was the second day in a row that Evanston reported four cases, and brought the city’s case count to 1,028. The city’s coronavirus death toll remained unchanged today at 72. And the Health Department said there are currently 46 active cases of the disease in the city.
Chicago reported 234 more cases today for a total of 74,190 and one more death for a total of 2,899.
Suburban Cook County had 328 more cases for a total of 58,773 and two more deaths for a total of 2,204.
The people who died today in the Cook County were identified as two men in their 60s and a woman in her 70s.
Statewide the case count now totals 255,643 and there were 28 more deaths for a total of 8,242.
The Illinois Department of Public Health reported results of 48,982 coronavirus tests today for a positive rate of 4%, compared to the seven-day average positive rate of 3.8%
The IDPH reported test results for 196 Evanston residents and noted one new case for a positive rate of 0.5%. The state agency now says there have been 1,027 COVID-19 cases in Evanston.
