Evanston health officials reported four new COVID-19 cases among city residents today. Statewide there were 1,848 new cases.
The Illinois Department of Public Health reported results of 46,391 tests, up from yesterday’s 41,829.
The statewide positive rate in Illinois today is 4.0%, compared to a seven-day average positive rate of 3.5%.
The IDPH reported tests of 182 Evanston residents today and it found two positive cases for a positive rate of 1.1% compared to a seven-day average rate for the city of 2.0%. The state now says Evanston has had a total of 1,100 cases.
By the city’s count, Evanston has a total of 1,105 COVID-19 cases. The city’s death toll from the disease remained unchanged today at 73.
Chicago reported 302 new cases today for a total of 77,989 and four more deaths for a total of 2,939.
Suburban Cook County reported 243 more cases today for a total of 62,634 and four more deaths for a total of 2,241.
Those who died in Cook County today ranged in age from their 60s to their 90s.
The state now has 279,114 COVID-19 cases and it reported 22 more deaths today for a total of 8,508.
As of last night, 1,563 people in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 351 patients were in the ICU and 144 of those were on ventilators.
