Evanston health officials reported four new COVID-19 cases among city residents today while statewide 1,462 cases were reported.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported test results for 46,890 people today for a positive rate of 3.1%, compared to a seven-day average rate of 3.7%.

The IDPH reported test results for 345 Evanston residents today and identified three positive cases for a positive rate of 0.5%. The state lists a total of 1,047 COVID-19 cases in Evanston, about 54% of them in the south Evanston 60202 ZIP Code.

The city says the total case count here now is 1,053. The city’s coronavirus death toll remained unchanged today at 73.

Chicago reported 258 new coronavirus cases today for a total of 75,152 and three more deaths for a total of 2,916.

Suburban Cook county had 191 new cases today for a total of 59,649 and two more deaths for a total of 2,217.

The fatalities in the county today included a man in his 30s, a woman in her 40s, two men in their 50s and a woman in her 60s.
