Evanston health officials reported four more COVID-19 cases among city residents today as the statewide total of coronavirus cases crossed the quarter million mark.

City officials now report a total of 1,019 cases here while the Illinois Department of Public Health reports 1,021. The IDPH reported test results for 78 Evanston residents today including three positive cases for a positive rate of 4.4%

Evanston’s COVID-19 death toll remained unchanged today at 72.

The IDPH reported 1,381 more coronavirus cases today statewide, raising the pandemic total to 250,961. There were eight more deaths statewide for a total of 8,179.

Chicago had 288 more cases for a total of 63,634 and two more deaths for a total of 2,896.

Suburban Cook County had 256 more cases for a total of 57,988 and one more death for a total of 2,201.

The statewide positive test rate today was 4.8%, compared to a seven-day average of 4.2%.
