Evanston health officials reported four new COVID-19 cases among city residents today. Statewide there were 1,853 new cases.

The statewide positive rate in Illinois today is 4.8%, and the seven-day average is 3.4%.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported results of 38,538 tests today, down dramatically from Sunday’s 51,656.

The IDPH reported tests of 206 Evanston residents today, down from 324 Sunday. It found seven positive cases here for a positive rate today of 3.4%, compared to a seven-day average rate of 1.4%. The seven-day rate here is down from 1.8% a week ago.

The state now says Evanston has had a total of 1,170 cases.

By the city’s count, Evanston has a total of 1,173 COVID-19 cases. The city’s death toll from the disease remained unchanged today at 73.

The latest seven-day average positive rate for some other communities:

  • Chicago 3.3%.
  • Suburban Cook County 4.0%
  • Skokie 2.3%
  • Wilmette 1.8%

Chicago reported 339 new cases today for a total of 82,041. Its coronavirus death toll was unchanged at 2,976.

Suburban Cook County reported 407 more cases today for a total of 67,084 and four more deaths for a total of 2,284.

All four Cook County victims who died today were men, ranging in age from their 60s to their 80s.

The state now has 303,394 COVID-19 cases, and it reported 14 more deaths today for a total of 8,805.

As of last night, 1,631 people in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 382 patients were in the ICU and 155 of those were on ventilators.
