Evanston health officials reported four new COVID-19 cases today, down from seven yesterday. The city’s COVID-19 death toll remained unchanged for a 14th day at 110.
Statewide there were 2,022 new cases today, compared to 1,665 yesterday, for a new total of 1,179,342.
The Illinois Department of Public Health today reported that 55,947 people were vaccinated yesterday, compared to 43,282 the day before. The seven-day average of daily vaccinations increased to 58,141.
A total of 2,310,928 vaccine doses had been administered as of yesterday, about 76% of the total 3,029,325 doses distributed to the state by the federal government. The IDPH says 4.86% of the state’s population is now fully vaccinated.
Illinois reported 44 COVID-19 deaths today, compared to 27 yesterday, for a new total of 20,374.
The state reported 82,976 COVID-19 tests today, compared to 61,400 yesterday.
The IDPH reported tests of 465 Evanston residents today, compared to 186 yesterday. The IDPH found 11 positive cases here for a daily positive rate of 2.4%.
The state now says Evanston has had a total of 3,999 cases. The city’s case count is 3,848.
Chicago reported 412 new COVID-19 cases today for a total of 243,252 and seven more deaths for a total of 4,850.
Suburban Cook County reported 340 new cases today for a total of 228,433 and nine more death for a total of 4,457.
The IDPH reported that the deaths in Cook County included a woman and three men in their 60s, four women and three men in their 70s, two women and one man in their 80s and one woman and one man in their 90s.
As of last night, 1,511 people in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 338 patients were in the ICU and 172 of those were on ventilators.
