Evanston health officials reported four new COVID-19 cases today, down from 19 yesterday. The city’s COVID death toll remained unchanged today at 104.
Statewide there were 5,152 new cases today, compared to 7,042 yesterday, for a new total of 1,098,527.
The Illinois Department of Public Health today reported that a total of 657,819 vaccine doses had been administered as of yesterday, about 40% of the total 1,636,775 doses distributed to the state by the federal government. The IDPH says 1.16% of the state’s population is now fully vaccinated.
The state reported 96 COVID-19 deaths today, compared to 95 yesterday, for a new total of 18,711.
The state reported 110,178 COVID-19 tests today, compared to 125,831 yesterday.
The IDPH reported tests of 1,732 Evanston residents today, compared to 3,441 yesterday. The IDPH found 7 positive cases here for a daily positive rate of 0.4%.
The state now says Evanston has had a total of 3,606 cases. The city’s case count stands at 3,508.
Chicago reported 956 new COVID-19 cases today for a total of 229,781 and 22 more deaths, for a total of 4,554.
Suburban Cook County reported 987 new cases today for a total of 213,819 and five more deaths for a total of 4,132.
The IDPH reported that the deaths in Cook County included a woman in her 30s, a woman and a man in their 40s, a woman and a man in their 50s, three women and three men in their 60s, four women and twomen men in their 70s, three women and two men in their 80s, and two women and two men in their 90s.
As of last night, 3,121 people in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 644 patients were in the ICU and 338 of those were on ventilators.
