Evanston is again offering free parking in downtown city garages for the holiday shopping season.

Parking will be free from 5 p.m. to midnight weekdays and all day on Saturdays from Thursday, Nov. 28, through Saturday, Jan. 4.

The city garages are at Sherman Plaza, Maple Avenue and Church Street.

A slightly different program applies to Lot 60 at 1234 Chicago Avenue — where there will be two hours of free parking between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Saturdays and after 5 p.m. on weekdays.

Sunday parking is always free in the parking garages and lots.

  1. I am glad to see this

    I am glad to see this for downtown parking. People prefer shopping centers because of easier parking. Plus this is promoting local businesses.
