The Friends of Robert Crown Center organization announced today that it has transferred another $2.2 million to the City of Evanston for the new Robert Crown Community Center.

That brings the total transferred in cash to $9.237 million.

Nearly 1,400 donors have contributed to the private fundraising effort for the city facility. “Our donors have proven the naysayers wrong, and we look forward to both meeting our original $10 million commitment this year and continuing to raise toward our $15 million stretch goal,” FRCC President Daniel Stein said in a statement.

All told, FRCC has raised $14.2 million in donations and commitments for the new Robert Crown Community Center, including working with Sen. Laura Fine and Reps. Robyn Gabel and Jennifer Gong-Gershowitz to win $1.5 million from Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s 2019 capital bill.
